Kimmel Ready to Make Improvements Before 2015 Season

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 15, 2014) – At the conclusion of every ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season, drivers and teams reflect on their year and make an honest assessment of what needs to be improved upon before returning to the racetrack in February to kick-start the following nine-month schedule.

In a total of 20 races, Frank Kimmel and his No. 44 Ansell-Menards team recorded eight top-five and 14 top-10 finishes, averaging a 10.1 starting position and 8.8 finishing position. Kimmel concluded the year fourth in the driver championship point standings, 70 points behind third-place Tom Hessert.

How would the 10-time champion Kimmel rank his 2014 season?

“On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say a five. It’s definitely disappointing we didn’t get a win this year, because I think the Ansell-Menards Toyota was capable of getting to Victory Lane. Everyone on this Win-Tron Racing team thought the season would have gone better than it actually did.”

Knowing body and engine rule changes are coming to the ARCA Racing Series before the 2015 season begins at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Kimmel believes there isn’t just one area that needs to be improved.

“I think we just need to get better in every area across the board. There isn’t one area glaring, except for qualifying, which falls more on me than the team. From the things we do in preparing the racecar to the engine program, we just need to be a little better in each and every area. The new engine and body should help our team and I’m looking forward to seeing how it improves the racing.”

The ARCA Racing Series will honor Kimmel and his fellow competitors at the Championship Awards Banquet held in Indianapolis on Saturday, December 13. Kimmel will then head to Daytona Beach, Florida for the annual open test session in preparation for the 2015 season opener on Saturday, February 14.
