Kimmel scores top 10, looks ahead to Elko

(TOLEDO, Ohio – June 16, 2014) – The heart of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season is here and that means a steady dose of racing at tracks of all shapes and sizes and appearances throughout the Midwest for 10-time ARCA champ Frank Kimmel.

Kimmel is coming off a seventh-place finish at Michigan International Speedway. He finished in the same position he started at the two-mile track.

“It was an okay day,” Kimmel said of Michigan. “We just didn’t have the finish that we thought we would. In practice, I thought we were getting better and better. We made a decent finish out of it.”

Kimmel ran in the top 10 the entire day during the Corrigan Oil 200. Austin Theriault, from Venturini Motorsports, won the race in his ARCA debut.

Kimmel said his Win-Tron Racing team is getting better and working hard on improving performance.
“I think every time we go out there, we’re adjusting and learning about each other,” he said. “Jamie Jones (crew chief) is working hard on giving me what I need. Everyone at the race shop is working real hard. It’s just a matter of time before we figure out something that all of us need.”

Kimmel, driver of the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Toyota, remained third in the driver point standings as the series heads to the ninth stop of the 2014 season, this one at Elko Speedway in Elko, Minnesota. Kimmel will appear at two area Menards stores on Thursday, June 19 and one on Friday as he gets up close and personal with fans ahead of the race at the .375-mile track.
“I love getting out and meeting the fans and Menards has the tickets on sale in advance, so it’s a double bonus,” Kimmel said. “We get to take our car and show it off to the fans, too.”

Kimmel is excited about racing at Elko Speedway in the Akona 250 presented by Federated Car Care.

“I really like Elko,” he said. “The track reminds me of Charlestown Speedway in Indiana, the track that I won my first late model championship at, only it’s a little bigger. It’s a good track to go to, the fans always packs the stands. I’m looking forward to it.”

The race will also mark the first to be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, a new television partner for the ARCA Racing Series.
