Frank Kimmel, No. 44 Ansell-Menards Toyota DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Preview

KIMMEL AT DUQUOIN: For the 23rd season in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, Frank Kimmel will compete on dirt at the DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds. Over his previous 22 starts at the one-mile clay track, Kimmel has recorded five wins (’01-’02, -‘04’05, ’08), 12 top-five and 16 top-10 finishes. The 10-time champion has completed 88.9% of laps competed (2220 of 2498) and led a total of 429 laps.

TIME TO GET DIRTY: Over the course of a 20-race schedule, the ARCA Racing Series makes two stops on non-asphalt tracks across the United States, with the second and final being this Monday at DuQuoin. Two weeks ago, Kimmel and his Ansell-Menards team competed at the Illinois State Fairgrounds for the first dirt race of 2014, where the veteran driver finished in the fourth position. Kimmel has tallied a combined total of 13 wins at the two one-mile clay tracks.

CHASSIS INFORMATION: Kimmel and the No. 44 Win-Tron Racing team will once again utilize Chassis No. 18 this week at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. This is the same chassis Kimmel has competed with the past three weeks at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield and Madison (Wis.) International Speedway. In addition, this chassis was raced earlier this season at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Chicagoland Speedway, Pocono (Pa.) Raceway I and Michigan International Speedway.

MADISON RECAP: During the Herr’s Live Life with Flavor 200 at Madison International Speedway last week, a rainy Saturday forced the ARCA officials to cancel the second practice session as well as qualifying. Based on the current owner point standings, the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Toyota rolled off from the third position. While battling hot weather conditions with a broken cool box inside the cockpit, Kimmel completed every lap inside the top-10 and captured a fourth-place finish.

MEET THE CHAMP: Fans will have the opportunity to meet Kimmel prior to the race on Monday afternoon, as the Indiana native will join his fellow competitors on the frontstretch near the start-finish line at 12:30 p.m. Central to sign autographs and take pictures.

NEW ADDITION TO WIN-TRON RACING: Last Thursday, August 21, Win-Tron Racing added its newest member to the team, as crew chief Mark Rette and his wife welcomed another baby into their family. Sadie Anne Rette was born at 4:20 p.m. and weighed 7.5 lbs. Mom and daughter are both home and healthy.

FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT: Kimmel on racing at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds… “Racing on dirt is always fun for drivers but has its challenges too. A couple weeks ago at Springfield, I could barely see out my windshield by the time the race ended. I know Bob Sargent (track promoter) is going to do everything he can to get the surface in the best condition possible. Our Ansell-Menards team has been working hard these past few weeks and if we continue to finish in the top four or five, we have a great chance to visit Victory Lane in the final stretch of races.”
