Frank Kimmel, No. 44 Ansell-Menards Toyota Berlin Raceway Preview

FRANK KIMMEL
NO. 44 ANSELL-MENARDS TOYOTA CAMRY
ARCA RACING SERIES PRESENTED BY MENARDS
BERLIN RACEWAY
SATURDAY, AUGUST 9, 2014

KIMMEL AT BERLIN: Saturday’s Federated Auto Parts 200 will mark Frank Kimmel’s 16th consecutive ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway. Over the last 15 seasons, Kimmel has claimed 3 wins (’99, ’03, ’04), 12 top-five and 14 top-10 finishes, in addition to one pole (’01). The veteran driver has completed 100% of laps competed (2929 of 2929) and led of total of 631 laps.

SHORT TRACK SUCCESS: Through the first half of the 2014 ARCA season, Kimmel has experienced much success when the series stops at short tracks. The Indiana native has posted four top-10 finishes, including two third-place efforts at Mobile (Ala.) International Speedway and Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. The next five events on the schedule are on tracks one-mile or shorter in length – including two races at dirt tracks.

CHASSIS INFORMATION: Kimmel and the No. 44 Win-Tron Racing team will utilize Chassis No. 18 this week at Berlin Raceway. This is the same chassis Kimmel competed with two weeks ago at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana, where the 10-time champion finished in the third position. Kimmel also drove this chassis earlier this season at Chicagoland Speedway, Pocono (Pa.) Raceway I, and Michigan International Speedway.

POCONO RECAP: During the ModSpace 125 at Pocono Raceway last week, Kimmel was moving to the front of the field from his 10th starting position, when the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Toyota entangled with a competitor causing significant damage to the Win-Tron Racing machine. After repairs behind the wall, Kimmel returned to the 2.5-mile track and finished in the 20th position.

MEET THE CHAMP: Fans will have two opportunities to meet Kimmel on Friday, August 8. Kimmel and the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Toyota will be at the Menards store in Kalamazoo, MI (E 16th Street) from 4:00-5:30 p.m., before traveling to the Holland, MI (W. Main Street) Menards store from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT: Kimmel on racing at Berlin Raceway… “I’m looking forward to getting back to a short track. Two weeks ago at Indy, the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Toyota was really good and we are taking the same car to Berlin, so we know our car will be ready to go. I grew up racing on short tracks and have had a lot of success at tracks like Berlin. Hopefully the success continues this week.”
